The Holiday Shopping GuideFor Ballroom Dancers by arthur.viewyourprojecthere.com/

There are plenty of things that Ballroom Dancers want, but things like posture, footwork, and hip motion are hard to shop for.

That’s why we put together a collection of items any social or competitive dancer could appreciate.  From the simple to the extravagant, whether you’re shopping for your dance partner, for a friend, or for yourself – these items are sure to be received with true appreciation.

Note:  This is a great article to share with your friends and family as your own Christmas list.

1.  Coffee – Just Like the Studio Makes It

In the ArthurMurrayLive locations, we love Jura!  These Swiss made automated coffee/espresso machines have been a staple in the Chris and Daisey Lynam home for nearly a decade, and can be sampled in the waiting rooms at all of their studio locations.

2.  A Dance Bag

You have plenty of options to transport all of your dance gear to your lessons, but enough with the reusable grocery bags already!  Here are some nice bags that won’t ever double for transporting eggs or milk.

3.  Dance Shoes

One of the primary ingredients in your dance bag, and one of the most essential items for a ballroom dancer (next to great coffee, of course) are dance shoes.  Here are some of our favorites.

4.  Dance Books Worth Reading

While nothing can replace dancing as a form of developing the skill of dancing, there are some great books worth checking out on the subject in the event that you’re on a plane, in bed, or anywhere else where actual dancing may not be an option.

5. Dance Notebooks

As tech savvy as we are these days, there’s just something about good old fashioned, analog, note taking.  Whether it’s the physical response of the pen touching paper, or the fact that your notebook serves as a sort of ballroom dancing memoir, a great paper notebook is one accessory many social dancers prefer.

6. Post-Dancing Slippers

Every dancer needs these.  They may not even admit it, but they love wearing them after a long day of competing, or a marathon day of training.

7.  Wireless Headphones

Dancers need great music to get into the zone, and a good pair of wireless headphones will surely be a welcomed gift to the ballroom or latin dancer in your life.

8.  Watches

You don’t want to miss that flight for the big competition, or your 6:15pm dance lesson – and being that dancers also appreciate fine detail and craftsmanship, why not opt for an elegant timepiece for the elegant person in your life?

Then again, if elegant timepieces aren’t your thing – you can always track the time, and your fitness progress with these Smart Watch options.  For more on this topic, check out Are You a Victim of Your Own Ballroom Dance Criticism?.

9. Scales

This may not be a sexy or exciting gift to most people, but the dancer in your life has most likely lost some weight, and could very easily lose track of just how much.  These Smart Scales are a great way to monitor things in the present, but more importantly, they can create a track record to measure progress.

10.  Porta-Party

Whether you are on your back patio, at the park, or dancing a Rumba on the beach – you need music.  Here are some great portable music options if you don’t have a live band on your payroll.

Stocking Stuffers for Ballroom Dancers

There will be no blocks of coal in these stockings.  There may be socks, and a few other things that any ballroom dancer would love to receive on Christmas.

   NY City Ballet Training DVD

Incredible exercises for developing flexibility, leg, and core strength.

   Shoe Brush

A must have in any dance shoe bag.

 Pit Boss Deoderant

Quite possibly the best deodorant ever made for a man’s pits.

  Pro Tan

The one and only tan in a bottle used by competitive dancers around the world.

   Leg Warmers

A practice essential for women.

Whether you planned early, or you like to shop with some added “suspense” (Christmas Eve) – everything on this list is available via Amazon.com.

Final Thought

No one likes to strike out in the gift giving department during the Holidays.  We aren’t suggesting that Ballroom dancing types are the hardest people in the world to shop for – your brother may take the cake on that one – but we do know that the hobby is a world unto itself.

So from one group of ballroom and Latin dancers, we assure you that these items will be welcome and appreciated – and aside from the fake tan, could be repurposed as a gift to yourself if necessary.

Want the Gift that will change everything?  If you haven’t started your own dance journey – that’s a Holiday Gift + Resolution all rolled into one.
